Jim Knight -

Jim has been employed as a Law Cost Draftsman continuously since 1972. His career in costs began at Clifford Turner (now Clifford Chance) where he was employed as a Junior Cost Clerk in the Litigation Cost Department.

From there Jim moved to McKenna & Co (now CMS Cameron McKenna). This was followed by a move to Macfarlanes where he was appointed Assistant Manager of the Cost Department. Jim’s last “in-house” position was at Kinglsey Napley where he was employed as Manager of the Cost Department until he joined Kain Knight in 1979.

In recent years he has assisted with the development and provision of ‘in-house’ costing services to certain City law firms (including CMS Cameron McKenna and Kennedys). Jim has also dealt with a number of cost audits on behalf of large insurance clients involving many millions of pounds.

Jim has experience in drawing all forms of bills but now tends to specialize in the larger commercial and clinical negligence cases which occupy him virtually full time. He has conducted innumerable Detailed Assessment hearings as an advocate and has also appeared in Court as a costs expert witness.
